I am proud to serve as the Head of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Bonga University. Our department is committed to academic excellence, research, and community service, with a strong focus on preparing students for the demands of today’s technology-driven world.
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering was established in 2011 E.C. with an initial intake of 40 students and 4 academic staff members. Since then, it has successfully graduated three batches between 2015 and 2017 E.C.
Currently, the department has 6 academic staff members and 3 senior technical assistants, offering both regular and weekend programs. It focuses on key specialization areas aligned with national needs, including Communication Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering, Industrial Control Engineering, and Computer Engineering.
Our graduates are employed across a wide range of sectors such as Ethiopian Electric Utility, Ethiopian Electric Power, telecommunications companies, airlines, banks, industrial parks, and other industries. The department recognizes the rapid advancement of technology and prepares engineers with strong scientific knowledge, technical competence, and managerial skills to succeed in a competitive global environment.
