Biography
I am a Remote Sensing and Geospatial Data Analyst graduated from Addis Ababa University with (MSc CGPA of 3.98/4.0 and Geology background (BSc, CGPA 3.73/4.0 from University of Gondar), working as lecturer and researcher at the Department of Geology, Bonga University, Ethiopia. I am IEEE GRSS 2024 research fellow, a member of African Association of Remote Sensing of Environment (AARSE) and Founder of digital education platform named “EO Data Analysis” aimed at providing trainings related to application of Earth observation data for various sectors both in person locally and remotely building more than 8.6K communities/subscribers in YouTube (https:// www.youtube.com/@jtiruneh).
My past research experience and interests include, but are not limited to:
• Geological mapping and resource exploration: - I have extensive experience in geological mapping and mineral exploration.
Satellite Remote Sensing:
• Multispectral/Hyperspectral data processing for various applications including alteration mineral mapping, LULC, environmental monitoring. …etc.
• Microwave remote sensing (InSAR) for landslide detection, flood monitoring, and vegetation/crop analysis.
Hydrological and climate modelling:
• Spatiotemporal climate variability analysis and its impacts on vegetation dynamics, phenology and agricultural yield.
• Impact of climate change on surface water and groundwater resources.
• Spatiotemporal climate modelling, climate model downscaling and flood modeling with various models.
• Drought analysis with various climate indices.
