Biography

Eskedar Asfaw Mekonnen is a lecturer and PhD student in the Department of Horticulture and Plant Science at Jimma University, Ethiopia. She holds a Master’s degree in Agronomy and a Bachelor’s degree in Plant Science. She has professional experience as an agronomist at the Sheka Zone Agriculture Office and previously served as a Department Head at Bonga University.

Her academic and research interests focus on sustainable agriculture, agroecological farming systems, nutrient use efficiency, fertilizer management, and environmental impact assessment. Her current PhD research evaluates the environmental impacts of agroecological and conventional farming systems using Life Cycle Assessment and FAO TAPE approaches.

She has published research on coffee-husk biochar and its role in improving soil fertility, nutrient uptake, and crop productivity in tropical soils of southwest Ethiopia.
