Biography
Mandefro Gebre Hibstu is an Ethiopian horticulture professional, researcher, and university lecturer in Bonga University with strong academic and research experience in horticultural crop production and agricultural sciences. He was born on September 16, 1987 E.C. He earned his BSc in Horticulture from Mizan Tepi University (CGPA 3.67) and later completed his MSc in Horticulture at the same university with very great distinction (CGPA 3.85). His academic background is complemented by preparatory and secondary education from Maksegnit Higher Education Preparatory School and Maksegnit High School, respectively. Mandefro has over three years of professional experience working in the Enterprise and Industrial Development Office, participated in a FTF project with the Ethiopian Central Statistical Agency using tablet-based data collection, and served for over four years as a lecturer at Bonga University. His teaching and research focus on horticultural crop production, spacing, fertilizer management, and yield optimization. He is also highly competent in computer applications including MS Office, SPSS, SAS, ArcGIS 10.8, Adobe Photoshop, and internet-based systems. I have received multiple professional certifications and trainings, including computer certification, the Higher Diploma Program (HDP), Peace Corps Ethiopia training, USAID-supported programs, English Language Improvement Training (ELIT), the e-She Master Class, and other professional accreditations, as well as leadership training on HIV/AIDS. His research interests include the production and management of all horticultural crops, plant spacing and population density, fertilizer management, yield and yield component optimization, sustainable horticulture, and agricultural research methodologies. His academic interests include horticultural research, crop management practices, and scientific writing, with a strong passion for reading and reviewing research literature. I am published seven peer-reviewed research articles and review papers in international journals.
