Bonga University Launches "5 Million Ethio-Coders" Program

Bonga University has officially launched the 5 Million Ethio-Coders program in a ceremony attended by the University President, Degela Ergeno (PhD). The initiative is part of a broader framework that includes digital literacy and National ID (Fayda) integration.

In his keynote address, the President emphasized that the university is committed to ensuring students are equipped with modern digital technology skills to become highly competent graduates. He noted that this program is a vital part of that mission and officially opened the forum by encouraging students to participate with active dedication.

Key Highlights from the Event:

  • Regional Support: Mr. Mitiku Assefa, Deputy Head of the South West Ethiopia Peoples' Region Industry and Innovation Bureau, expressed his appreciation for the university's initiative. He highlighted Ethiopia's current standing in the global digital landscape and explained why such training is essential for national progress.

  • Job Creation Focus: A major goal of the program is to shift the mindset of students from being "job seekers" to "job creators" upon graduation. The training aims to instill the psychological readiness and technical capacity required for entrepreneurship.
