The discussion was led by the University President, Dr. Degela Ergano, who warmly welcomed the visiting team in his opening remarks.

He expressed the University’s strong interest in establishing a partnership with the company, particularly in the coffee sector.

Representing the company, Mr. James Zheng, Vice President of Cotti Coffee, delivered a detailed presentation about the company’s background, operations, and global experience.

He highlighted the company’s more than 40 years of experience and its strong international presence.

Mr. Zheng also emphasized the company’s keen interest in collaborating with Bonga University and investing in coffee development initiatives in SouthWest Region.

Following the presentation, Dr. Degela Eregano reaffirmed the University’s commitment to working with Cotti Coffee.

He underscored the immense potential of Bonga University and the wider Southwest region in coffee research and production.

He also invited the company to participate in the upcoming International Coffee Research Conference scheduled for May 2-4 , 2026.

During the meeting, both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on the development of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and identified key sectors for future collaboration.

As part of the visit, the Cotti Coffee delegation toured several important sites, including coffee nursery areas, the University lodge, and the Bonga National Coffee Museum, gaining firsthand insight into the region’s coffee resources and institutional capacity.
