CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR THE POSITION OF UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT

Bonga University, in accordance with the Ministry of Education Directive No. 1146/2018 on the Appointment of Presidents of Government Higher Education Institutions, invites applications from qualified candidates with relevant professional experience in higher education institutions, governmental organizations, and non-governmental organizations for the vacant position of University President. Accordingly, we hereby inform applicants who meet the minimum required qualifications and the criteria set forth below in the table that you may register by presenting yourselves at Bonga University's Human Resource and Competency Administration Executive Office, Room No. 004, or at the Bonga University Liaison Office located in Addis Ababa, Shiromeda, in front of the American Embassy, within 22 consecutive working days from the date of publication of this announcement in the Addis Zemen newspaper, on the University's website, and through its social media platforms.

2. Requirements & Candidate Criteria

·         Any candidate from a higher education institution who competes for the position of President must hold an academic rank of Assistant Professor or above.

·         The candidate must have served for at least 2 years as a President, 3 years as a Vice President, or 3 years as a College Dean.

·         A candidate coming from the industry sector or from other governmental or non-governmental organizations must have managed, in a leadership position, a number of employees and a budget of a scale comparable to that of the institution.

·         For candidates coming from the industry sector, the minimum required work experience is at least 5 years in senior/executive leadership, at least 5 years in top-level management, and at least 8 years of service as a Director General, Deputy Director General, Chief Executive Officer, or in equivalent positions of responsibility.

·         Female candidates from higher education institutions who hold a Master's degree may compete for an open leadership position as President without the academic-rank requirement.

·         The candidate must be an Ethiopian citizen or of Ethiopian origin.

·         Every candidate must prepare and present, in the institution's language of instruction, a strategic plan designed to implement the institution's vision and mission.

·         Individuals who have served as Vice President for two consecutive terms may compete for the position of President.

·         A leader currently serving as president in one institution can compete for open leadership positions in other universities, but cannot compete within the institution they are currently leading.

·         The candidate must not have previously served two consecutive terms as President of a public/government university.

·         The candidate must be able to serve a full six-year term before reaching retirement age for the advertised leadership position.

·         The candidate must have no charges or convictions related to serious crimes or serious disciplinary misconduct.

·         The recruitment results, and the time and location of the oral examination, will be announced on the notice board at the registration/reporting center where the candidates registered.

3. Application Submission & Required Documents

Candidates must submit the following documents starting from the date this announcement is published in Addis Zemen newspaper, on the University's website, and through its social media platforms:

·         Curriculum Vitae (CV) and a non-returnable photocopy of educational credentials (one copy)

·         Document certifying work experience and leadership service

·         Edited research articles published by candidates who are university instructors within the last five years

4. Registration Period, Location & Contact Details

Registration Period: This announcement shall remain open for 22 consecutive working days starting from the date it is published in Addis Zemen newspaper, on the University's website, and through its social media platforms.
