Academic and administrative staff of Bonga University recently participated in an in-depth dialogue focused on reforms in higher education institutions and challenges in effective governance. The forum, led by Vice President Dr. Degela Ergano, was conducted in two interactive sessions. The first session engaged administrative staff, providing a comprehensive overview of key administrative issues.
Discussions centered on best practices and solutions for governance challenges, as well as strategies for institutional reform in higher education. Key topics included staff development, performance management, asset oversight, service delivery, and financial and procurement procedures. Participants reviewed existing measures and proposed actionable steps to improve efficiency and address ongoing challenges.
In the second session, attention shifted to the academic sector, highlighting the objectives, necessity, and significance of higher education reforms. Discussions emphasized the critical role of quality education, academic excellence, and competitive capabilities in contributing to national development. Topics included optimizing the use of resources, strengthening academic leadership, ensuring continuity in research and development projects, and enhancing institutional distinctiveness.
The dialogue encouraged open participation, allowing staff to share ideas and experiences. The university president praised ongoing reform initiatives, acknowledging both the progress achieved and the leadership’s commitment to fostering continuous improvement. He underscored that future dialogues would continue, focusing on institutional planning and empowering students to take a leading role in academic and administrative initiatives.
The president concluded by encouraging all staff to work collaboratively, with dedication and a spirit of service, to ensure that Bonga University remains a model of excellence in higher education.
