Bonga University, together with Jigjiga University , Samara University, Borana University and Gambella University has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish the Pastoral Area Universities Consortium (PAUC).

The Consortium is a landmark partnership designed to strengthen collaboration among universities serving Ethiopia’s pastoral and agro-pastoral communities. 

Through this initiative, the member universities will work jointly in research, postgraduate education, community engagement, policy dialogue, and resource mobilization.

PAUC will focus on key thematic areas including pastoral livelihoods, climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, natural resource governance, livestock development, peacebuilding, borderland studies, indigenous knowledge systems, health, education, entrepreneurship, and social inclusion.

The signing of this MoU reflects the shared commitment of the five universities to generating knowledge, building human capacity, and contributing to sustainable development, resilience, and peace in Ethiopia’s pastoral regions.

Together, we are creating a stronger platform for research, innovation, and community impact to address the opportunities and challenges facing pastoral and agro-pastoral areas.
